Sweet oat crackers
Crackers are delicious any time of the day. They come in many shapes and sizes, but unfortunately also in a lot of junk. In crackers a lot of additives are used while this is not necessary at all. The biggest players are salt and sugar. Fortunately, you can buy a number of crackers that are only made from a grain and salt, but you rarely come across these.
It is therefore all the more fun to make them yourself. Because nothing is simpler than that. You can add anything (or not) to it yourself and you can make them savory or sweet.
You can make delicious sweet nutritious healthy crackers with just three very simple ingredients. You can eat this for breakfast, for example. Or enjoy a snack in between. You can store the crackers in a paper bag in a cool place for a few days and briefly pop them in the oven or airfryer before use.
What do you need:
- 500 grams of oatmeal
- 3/4 heaping tablespoons greensweet sweet cinnamon (or one of the four other sweet flavors)
- a small banana, mashed (or not vegan: an egg)
- hot water
This is how you make it:
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Place a sheet of baking paper on a smooth surface. Stir all ingredients together in a bowl while adding a little warm water at a time. When the mass has become firm, knead a ball of dough and cut it in half.
Roll one half on the baking paper with a rolling pin until it is as thin as possible. The thinner the slice, the crispier the crackers will be. Do the same with the other half of the dough. Cut crackers into the slice with a knife, so that you can easily break the crackers after baking. Bake the crackers in the middle of the oven for about 25 minutes, keep checking in between. Let cool.
